Novel November 2025 – Boom! Creek

In November, I took on the Novel November Challenge – 50,000 words in 30 days. Novels are typically between 50K and 80K. I have wanted to finish writing my graphic novel, Boom! Creek for a long time, and so I set that as my objective. And I finished my book!

I worked on the storyline in October so I was ready for November 1. I handwrote the rough draft. I didn’t want to be tempted to edit it like I would if I was typing. Time was of the essence! Truthfully, I enjoyed writing it — sitting with my coffee and my dogs in the very early morning. However, my handwriting is illegible in spots making my dictation bit of a struggle. Regardless, I am now editing the text; then I’ll do panel layouts, thumbnails, final drawings, etc.

The interesting thing about my book is that my characters came to life 25 years ago. But they had to wait a long time before I could tell their story. I needed to live these last 25 years to do that. So this is a super big deal for me and my wonderful characters.
