Another Failed Potion
Gretchen Wretched, her toxic brews, and the great scavenger hunt for ingredients.
I have spent quite a bit of time in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories (NWT) in the last four years. It has been a real pleasure. I am quite fond of the town.
It has a population of approximately 22,000 people. The town weaves in and around lakes making it such a picturesque setting. Really, very beautiful and unusual.
One of the lakes, Frame Lake has The Great Trail (Trans Canada Trail) looping around it. It is really neat to think you are walking or running on a trail that runs the length of Canada.
The drawing is my interpretation of a feeling I get when I go to Yellowknife or Whati NWT. There are large prey birds such as eagles; the slate-like rocks are stunning in their reddish colour. They balance oddly along the roadsides, and they are always stately. The plant reminds me of spent Fireweed — a spiky purple plant.
The crescent moon reminds me of the sky and the indigenous population and their beautiful painting and craft work.
