Play Dead
Only two things in the entire world will make Lizardo move: a warm sunbeam and Payanas. But now there was a third.
The turtle that you see here emerged right from the beginning of this drawing, and as I continued along, so did the plants, animals, birds and butterflies. And when it was almost fully formed, it reminded me of the Niagara Escarpment, which immediately made me think of my family.
I grew up on the Niagara Escarpment, aka the Mountain, and most of my family still lives there. I visit Ancaster and Dundas often. So as a reference to them, I added a dog on the left side, a little shout-out to our dear Schnauzers, Bouviers, and Yorkies.
The Mountain and the Valley, complete with its lakes and waterfalls are beautiful at all times of the year, but the fall is pretty spectacular. It is no wonder that in 1990 the Niagara Escarpment was deemed a World Biosphere.
