I drew this in early January and thought I have just the right day to post it on. And so here we are, February 2, 2021.
Happy Groundhog Day!
Wiarton Willie did not see his shadow, so we are in for an early spring! Oh, the joy! Though I have enjoyed the winter, I have to say I will enjoy an early spring so to start on the veggie garden.
Anyone who has lived in Toronto is familiar with the Don Valley Parking Lot (parkway). Most times of the waking day, that parkway crawls. So while you are inching your way to the 401 or 404, one looks around at the scenery. There are lots of large trees and waterside trails. It is quite a pretty drive, except when you get up to the Spanbridge and Eglington section. Fortunately, there is an odd occurrence on the median—the grassy knoll between the southern and northern bound traffic. In the spring the median has daffodils. They pop up in bunches and decorate the grass with punches of yellow.
Along with that are groundhog burrows. You can see the holes, and many times you will also see the groundhogs just sitting there watching the traffic.
The Groundhogs are indeed charming. A welcome site to the commute. And what a perfect place in the city to have an underground home.
