Springboard

M-J Kelley's drawing of Dogfly and Cannonball using a springboard for some water fun.
The plank of wood slightly angled for the best possible upward projection was Dogfly’s favourite water toy. But the springboard was not Cannonball’s.

An uncomfortable rare moment between these two friends, indeed. They were the makers of the winds and waves of the Knockwood Forest and forever entwined.

The problem was that the springboard had an extra special bounce to it. But this is what Dogfly loved. It flung him at a super speed where he could coast and not use his wings. But, unfortunately, when combined with Cannonball’s “splashdown,” it created a rogue wave. And this was what Cannonball didn’t like. But he could not help it. And where the dangerous rogue wave would appear, he did not know.
