“…and then the buzzard was pummeled by Payanas, and that is how Lizardo got away!”

Flip-Flop finished his story, still so excited and almost out of breath. Newt was puzzled.

“Um, who was throwing the fruit?”

Flip-Flop fell silent. Newt looked to Squirrel Bob, who shrugged.

“I don’t know,” replied Flip-Flop feeling totally bummed out. He loved telling a good story, but something was really missing here.

Continuing he said, “I’ll have to ask the girls.” Referencing his Lady Slipper sisters.

It is a common truth that Lady Slippers are the chattiest flowers in the Knockwood Forest. They only tell true stories and pride themselves on the accuracy of information. But if the information was untruthful, they dispensed with it. So, at the mere mention of a flying pig, well, that was all too much. It just couldn’t be true! So that part was cut from telling the tale and not passed along to Flip-Flop.

Newt was still curious. “Why was he after Lizardo? No one messes with Lizardo. He’s too big!”

“Well, he wasn’t really after Lizardo, at first. He was after…” and Flip-Flop’s voice trailed off, he became silent. This was unusual for him.

“Huh, who?” said Newt.

The lazy cat leaned in. The house mouse perked up. The small weasel stood up to hear better. Squirrel Bob even stopped trying to open his acorn.

The severity of the situation suddenly dawned on Flip Flop.

“Newton, you need to hide. The Wretched buzzards are looking for you.”

“What??! Why?”

But no sooner had he said those words than a fast-moving dark cloud appeared. It had wings and great speed. It came closer and closer. And with one silent swoop, Newt was gone.

Stay tuned for the continuation of this story! Our beloved frog, Jack, is back!
